Among several anniversaries in the video game industry, 2026 marked the 30th anniversary of the release of Tomb Raider. Lara Croft had a couple of games announced for this year to celebrate the occasion, but due to issues with her studio, they’ve had to be delayed. However, it’s not all bad news for Lara Croft fans, as a few months ago, Gunnar announced a collaboration that brought us one of the classic elements from everyone’s favorite Tomb Raider game: themed sunglasses.
If there’s one thing that sets the Gunnar Tomb Raider Croft Glasses apart, it’s that they represent one of the brand’s most polished collaborations, taking the franchise beyond just eyewear. Inside the box, you’ll find the following:
First off, the frame design really stands out. It’s just like the style Lara Croft wore in the early games in the series—a design with rounded lenses and slim temples. This time, the lenses aren’t quite perfectly round, but you only notice that when you look very closely at the design. The model features a slightly thick rim full of details, such as engravings around the frames, as well as logos on the temple tips and near the hinges.
The Gunnar logo is on the left lens, but it disappears completely from view once you put the glasses on. Despite having a thick frame, they aren’t heavy at all and feel lightweight. Together with the nose pad, this actually helps them fit better on your face; these are among the glasses where I’ve felt the least likely to slip out of place.
In this context, we also need to talk about the accessories. From the moment you open the box and see the rugged collector’s glasses case, it’s clear this is very different from other editions, as they’ve taken the theme very seriously. The case looks like a scout knife holster, which you can attach to your belt or backpack using a strap or a hook. Inside, the Collector’s microfiber pouch and the Collector’s microfiber cleaning cloth continue the theme, featuring the logo designed for the 30th anniversary of Tomb Raider.
As is typical for the brand, the lens features a slight magnification. This detail can improve the clarity of text and on-screen elements, especially during extended reading sessions, although it requires a brief adjustment period for those unfamiliar with this type of correction. The amber tint fulfills its primary function: reducing exposure to blue light and alleviating eye strain during long hours in front of the computer. In office settings or while gaming at night, the difference becomes noticeable after several hours of use.
The Tomb Raider Croft model has a base price of $99 and includes all the accessories mentioned. On the official website, it is available in a standard version, with custom prescription lenses, and in different lens options: amber, amber max, or even as sunglasses.
The Gunnar Tomb Raider Croft Glasses are one of the models from this brand that have impressed me the most. While they’ve done great work with other collaborations, this time they’ve gone beyond just the design of the glasses and dared to take it a step further. The design of everything—from the case and accessories to, of course, the glasses themselves—is spot-on, and highly functional to boot. The real bummer here is that none of the Tomb Raider games are coming out this year.
