Story

Beneath the scorching sands of Egypt lies the Temple of Osiris, sealed for millennia and untouched since the ancient god was slain by his brother Set. When archaeologist Carter Bell arrives at the site, Lara Croft is already there. In their mutual haste to explore the find, the two inadvertently free Set, the Egyptian god of chaos and death. Set immediately places a curse on Carter, binding the Staff of Osiris to his arm, and traps them both on a mystical island rising from the desert.

Unable to escape without lifting the curse, Lara and Carter are forced into an uneasy alliance with two other unlikely companions: the gods Isis and Horus, who have also been imprisoned by Set in spectral form. Together, the four must navigate the deadly traps and ancient mechanisms of the temple complex, collect the scattered fragments of Osiris, and restore the god so that his power can be wielded against Set.

The Temple of Osiris expanded on its predecessor by increasing the cooperative multiplayer from two to four players simultaneously. Each of the four characters brings different abilities to the group, and many of the environmental puzzles require coordinated use of all of them to solve. The game retained the isometric top-down perspective of Guardian of Light while building a larger world with more varied challenges, boss encounters, and a progression system that rewards players with rings, amulets, and weapon upgrades found throughout the tombs.
