Story

The narrative unfolds on the mythical island of Yamatai, concealed within the perilous Dragon’s Triangle near Japan. Veiled in an aura of mystery, Yamatai boasts a tumultuous history marked by relentless storms and countless shipwrecks. Once ruled by the enigmatic “Sun Queen” Himiko, endowed with weather-controlling shamanistic powers, Yamatai’s past remains obscured. Legends echo tales of Portuguese traders, US Marines, and a Japanese military project stranded on the island. As the story unravels, players encounter the current inhabitants, the Solarii Brotherhood, a ruthless assembly of criminals, mercenaries, and survivors who have forged a society centered around Himiko’s worship, unveiling their intricate social structure and enigmatic intentions.

Assuming the role of Lara Croft, an ambitious archaeology graduate driven by her theories on Yamatai, players join an expedition funded by the Nishimura family. Guided by the celebrity archaeologist Dr. James Whitman, the journey includes Conrad Roth, Lara’s mentor and a former Royal Marine; Samantha “Sam” Nishimura, Lara’s friend and documentarian; Joslyn Reyes, a skeptical mechanic; Jonah Maiava, a believer in the paranormal; Angus “Grim” Grimaldi, the Endurance’s helmsman; and Alex Weiss, an eccentric electronics specialist. This eclectic ensemble sets the stage for an exploration that goes beyond unraveling the mysteries of Yamatai, delving into personal relationships and the complex dynamics of survival.
