Synopsis

Tomb Raider: ReVisioned is a 2007 animated anthology series produced by Paramount Digital Entertainment and commissioned to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Tomb Raider franchise. The series consists of eight short animated episodes, each produced by a different animation studio, giving each episode a distinct visual style and artistic interpretation of Lara Croft.

Released online via Gametrailers.com, the episodes range from gritty action to surreal horror to pure comedy, showcasing the breadth of creative interpretations the character inspires. Despite each episode being independently produced, they all centre on Lara’s adventures across different global locations, encountering supernatural threats and ancient mysteries.

The anthology format allowed each studio to experiment freely with tone and aesthetic, resulting in a collection that is widely varied — some episodes are cel-shaded and manga-inspired, others lean into dark realism, and at least one takes a decidedly comedic route. ReVisioned remains a fascinating curio in the franchise’s history, demonstrating how versatile and iconic Lara Croft had become by her tenth anniversary.

Each episode was available to watch free of charge online, representing an early experiment in web-based serialised animation. The series has since become a collector’s item among dedicated Tomb Raider fans.
