Story

Tomb Raider VI: The Angel of Darkness Remastered is part of the Tomb Raider IV–VI Remastered collection by Aspyr Media. This remaster of the infamously troubled 2003 entry brings Core Design’s final Tomb Raider to modern platforms with fully updated visuals.

The Angel of Darkness was conceived as a bold reinvention of the series, introducing a darker, more cinematic narrative, RPG-lite character progression, and a second playable character in Kurtis Trent — a mercenary with supernatural abilities. Lara is framed for the murder of her former mentor Werner Von Croy and must uncover a conspiracy involving a shadowy Alchemist and a series of gruesome murders tied to a forbidden experiment known as the Obscura Paintings.

A difficult development — cut short by Eidos Interactive — left the original release in an incomplete state, leading to widespread criticism and ultimately the handover of the series to Crystal Dynamics. The remaster preserves the original experience faithfully while adding the visual toggle and optional modern controls found throughout the collection, giving this divisive chapter of the classic era a chance to be reconsidered on its own terms.
