Why PS Plus Subscribers Might Want to Play the Tomb Raider Remastered Trilogy's PS4 Version Instead of PS5

The Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection has just arrived on PlayStation Plus, but there’s a caveat that may make the PlayStation 4 version more ideal than the PlayStation 5 release. Since its launch in June 2010, PlayStation Plus has offered avid PlayStation gamers free monthly titles, and in 2022, it expanded its service with the addition of new tiers. Beyond the three games offered monthly through the Essential tier, the Extra tier adds an ever-expanding lineup of PlayStation 4 and 5 titles. Meanwhile, the Premium tier includes games from PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PSP, and cloud-streamed PlayStation 3 games.

PS Plus Essential showcases the brand new free games coming to the service on April 7.

As pointed out on Reddit, the Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered collection does not feature any Platinum trophies for the PlayStation 5 version. While the collection features over 200 trophies in both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions, none of the PlayStation 5 editions of the trilogy feature a Platinum trophy. The PlayStation 4 version instead features three separate Platinum trophies for each game in the collection.

Tomb Raider 1-3 Remastered’s lack of a Platinum trophy in its PlayStation 5 version will be disappointing news for those trying it out for the first time through its PlayStation Plus release. Trophy hunters will thus have to stick to a slightly less robust version of the game if they want to add the Platinum trophies to their collections. If nothing else, at least this PS Plus release of the game includes both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of the game, so fans will have the opportunity to try both, no matter their preferences for trophies.
